Central Connecticut State rallies to beat Albany

Oct 23, 2010 - 3:40 AM ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Joe Izzo kicked three field goals, including a 32-yarder in overtime, and Central Connecticut State rallied to beat Albany (N.Y.) 30-27 on Friday night.

The Great Danes carried a 24-12 lead into the fourth quarter and Herb Glass kicked a 38-yard field goal to make it 27-19 with 2:07 left.

The Blue Devils (5-2, 4-0 Northeast Conference) responded with an eight-play, 74-yard drive, culminating in Gunnar Jespersen's 9-yard touchdown pass to P.J. Borawski with 36 seconds to go. Everette Benjamin ran in the 2-point conversation to send the game to overtime.

Buddy Leathley threw for 101 yards and rushed for 112 more for Albany (3-4, 1-3). He had a 20-yard TD run in the first quarter and a 9-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Kirchner with 1:04 left in the first half.

Benjamin finished with 32 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
