VMI defeats Charleston Southern 34-16

Oct 23, 2010 - 7:43 PM CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Chaz Jones rushed for three touchdowns and Greg Walker returned an interception 58 yards for a score as Virginia Military Institute beat Charleston Southern 34-16 on Saturday.

Jones scored touchdowns of 2 yards and 1 yard in the fourth quarter, when the Keydets (3-4, 2-2 Big South Conference) scored 17 unanswered points. He finished with 51 yards on 15 carries.

Walker scored on the game's sixth play from scrimmage, getting the first of the Keydets' four interceptions against Andrew Trudnowski of the Buccaneers (2-5, 0-3). The other three came in the fourth quarter.

Trudnowski threw first-quarter touchdown passes of 69 yards to Gerald Stevenson and 24 yards to Kwame Krakue to put Charleston Southern ahead 13-7. Trudnowski completed 25 of 53 passes for 326 yards.

Jones' first touchdown - a 2-yard run - put VMI ahead 14-13 with 12:41 left until halftime.
