Jacksonville State rolls over Austin Peay, 56-3

Oct 24, 2010 - 12:06 AM JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Alphonso Freeney ran for three touchdowns, and Marques Ivory and Coty Blanchard threw for two each Saturday as Jacksonville State rolled to a 56-3 win over Austin Peay.

The Gamecocks (8-0, 5-0 Ohio Valley Conference) spotted the Governors (2-5, 1-3) a 3-0 lead on Stephen Stansell's 50-yard field goal, then racked up eight touchdowns and 539 yards total offense while holding Austin Peay to 157 yards, just 67 on 35 rushing attempts. The Governors held a 30:54-29:06 advantage in time of possession.

Blanchard passed to Denzel Cheeks for a 3-yard touchdown that put the Gamecocks ahead, and a 1-yard run by Freeney gave them a 14-3 lead.

Ivory threw 13- and 3-yard touchdown passes to James Shaw, and Blanchard threw a 2-yard touchdown to Jamal Young in a 21-point second quarter. Freeney scored on 1- and 30-yard runs in the third quarter.
