SMU rallies in 4th quarter to defeat Tulane 31-17

Oct 31, 2010 - 12:38 AM NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Kyle Padron threw an 82-yard touchdown pass to Aldrick Robinson to break a fourth-quarter tie, then scored on a 3-yard run to seal Southern Methodist's 31-17 Conference USA victory over Tulane Saturday.

Padron passed for 354 yards, completing 18 of 32 attempts. But none resulted in a score until he connected with Robinson on a second-and-10 play at the SMU 18 with 8:32 left. The Mustangs (5-4, 4-1), who went into their 21-point fourth quarter trailing by a touchdown, took a 24-17 lead as a result.

The Green Wave (3-5, 1-3) appeared poised to tie, driving to the SMU 5 before the Mustangs' Chris Banjo intercepted Ryan Griffin's fourth-and-goal pass for a touchback.

On the ensuing possession, Padron and Robinson connected again on a 56-yard pass that helped SMU put the game away. Five plays later, Padron scored for the final two-touchdown margin.
