James, Ducks run over Arizona

Sep 25, 2011 - 6:40 AM Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - LaMichael James exploded for a school-record 288 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns on 23 carries as No. 10 Oregon outgunned Arizona, 56-31, at Arizona Stadium.

Kenjon Barner added two rushing TDs, while Darron Thomas completed 11-of-20 passes for two scores and also posted two touchdowns on the ground for the Ducks (3-1, 1-0 Pac-12), who won their 13th straight conference tilt.

David Paulson posted three catches for 22 yards and another touchdown as Oregon racked up 516 yards of total offense.

Nick Foles passed for 398 yards and three TDs but it wasn't enough for the Wildcats (1-3, 0-2), who lost despite piling up 480 yards in all.

David Roberts notched 60 yards and two scores on four catches, Richard Morrison had a TD reception and Keola Antolin rushed for a score in defeat.

James' 19-yard touchdown scamper put Oregon ahead 35-3 with 2:45 to play in the first half, but Arizona got back within 35-24 on a 34-yard connection from Foles to Morrison with 1:04 before the break, a seven-yard TD run by Antolin 4 1/2 minutes into the third quarter and Roberts' seven-yard scoring catch with 5:43 to play in the third.

Oregon dashed the home team's hopes, as Thomas capped a 75-yard drive with a five-yard rushing score to make it 42-24 with 3:19 left in the period.

Barner gave the Ducks more breathing room on a one-yard run just over five minutes into the fourth quarter, and though Roberts brought in a four-yard pass from Foles to cap the following drive, Thomas added a two-yard burst to paydirt with 1:45 to play for the final 25-point margin.

Oregon jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead thanks to James' 12-yard scoring run and Barner's eight-yard TD.

Alex Zendejas hit a 28-yarder to put Arizona on the board with 30 seconds left in the opening quarter, but it was all Ducks from there.

Thomas hit Paulson from 10 yards out and a 21-3 game, then connected with Barner for a six-yard touchdown.

Oregon has won 22 of the 36 meetings with Arizona, including four straight...David Douglas ended with 120 yards on seven receptions for the victors...The Ducks won the rushing battle by a 415-82 count.
