Moore leads Boise State over San Diego State

Nov 20, 2011 - 6:28 AM San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Kellen Moore had four touchdown passes as No. 10 Boise State took down San Diego State, 52-35.

Moore went 28-for-40 with 366 yards and an interception, Tyler Shoemaker caught 10 passes for 130 yards and three scores while Doug Martin carried the ball 36 times for 129 yards and two scores for the Broncos (9-1, 4-1 MWC), who bounced back from last week's loss to TCU.

"This week was good," said Moore. "Obviously, those things (last week's game) can linger for a little while. You don't sleep very well. It's kind of nice to just get to practice. It feels good getting back to practice and getting back to work. You're onto the next moment. You just have to keep moving forward. You can linger all you want, but it's not going to do anything. The past is the past, and you move on."

Ryan Lindley passed for 350 yards and three scores with an interception on 30- of-51 attempts while Adam Muema had 13 carries for 119 yards and two scores and also caught a touchdown pass for the Aztecs (6-4, 3-3), who had won their previous two.

"The only thing that I saw positive about tonight was that our team showed ability to hang in there when things were going as bad as they can possibly go," said San Diego State head coach Rocky Long.

The outcome of this game was never in doubt as Boise State scored 21 points before San Diego State got on the board.

Shea McClellin picked off Lindley on the third play of the Aztecs' opening possession and that led to a five-yard touchdown catch by Shoemaker.

Boise State was forced to punt on its next touch, but Leon McFadden fumbled on the return and the Broncos recovered at the SDSU 10. After a one-yard loss, Mitch Burroughs took it in for a 14-0 lead with 5 1/2 minutes to play in the first.

Turnovers continues to plague the Aztecs as Brandon Davis fumbled the kickoff and Boise State recovered at the Aztecs' 23. Five plays later, Shoemaker caught a 14-yard score for a 21-0 advantage.

"They can't go any worse than that," said Long. "In the first quarter, you've never seen a game any worse than that. You've seen some like that, but you've never seen one worse than that in the first quarter."

San Diego State was finally able to hold on to the ball and stop the bleeding as Muema took a handoff 81 yards into the end zone.

A Moore nine-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Efaw early in the second made it a 28-7 game, but the Aztecs countered with a 30-yard touchdown catch from Gavin Escobar.

Later in the second, though, Martin scored on a 10-yard run and Shoemaker's third score of the game, this one a 24-yard catch, gave Boise State a 42-14 lead at the break.

Michael Frisina's 30-yard field goal accounted for the only points of the third quarter to put the Broncos up, 45-14.

San Diego State got a 30-yard touchdown catch from Escobar with 10 minutes to play while a Muema five-yard run followed by a two-point conversion from Escobar made it a 45-29 game with just over six minutes to play.

Boise State, though, recovered the onside kick attempt and took advantage of the short field with Martin sealing the win with a 22-yard score with four minutes left.

Lindley and Muema hooked up on a one-yard score to account for the final score.
