Seastrunk leads Baylor past Oklahoma State

Dec 2, 2012 - 12:25 AM Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Lache Seastrunk carried the ball 16 times for 178 yards and a touchdown, as the Baylor Bears closed out the regular season with a 41-34 victory over the 24th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Nick Florence completed 23-of-39 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown for the Bears (7-5, 4-5 Big 12), who beat Oklahoma State for the first time since the 2005 season. Florence also carried the ball 18 times for 71 yards and a score.

Tevin Reese hauled in five passes for 108 yards and a touchdown for Baylor, which ended the regular season with three straight wins.

"Today was a good win for the seniors and to get our seventh of the season," Baylor coach Art Briles said. "But really today was about getting respect. When we are standing on the street corner, we have to find room and we have not done that with OSU."

Clint Chelf connected on 30-of-51 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions for the Cowboys (7-5, 5-4), who have lost two in a row.

Joseph Randle carried the ball 23 times for 139 yards and Josh Stewart caught 12 passes for 147 yards and a score.

"In order to be a good football team, like we have been over the past few years, you have to be able to win on the road," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. "That comes with experience and maturity, and we did not have that today."

The score was 3-3 after Oklahoma State's Quinn Sharp and Baylor's Aaron Jones opened the game with field goals of 36 and 39 yards, respectively.

Eddie Lackey followed with a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown, making it 10-3 in favor of the Bears.

After the Cowboys were forced to punt from the Baylor 39, the Bears put together an impressive 16-play, 98-yard drive. Florence kept the march alive early on with an 11-yard run on 3rd-and-6. Reese and Levi Norwood caught passes of 11 and 14 yards, respectively, to move the ball into the red zone. Glasco Martin converted a 3rd-and-2 from the 10-yard line before recording a 2-yard TD run.

Baylor added to its lead early in the second quarter. Reese hauled in a 75- yard touchdown pass from Florence to make it 24-3.

However, Oklahoma State got back into the game with two quick scores. Randle's 11-yard run on 4th-and-3 preceeded J.W. Walsh's 1-yard TD run.

Seastrunk fumbled on the ensuing Baylor possession, which led to another Oklahoma State touchdown. Randle ripped off a 26-yard run to move the ball into Baylor territory. Austin Hays' 12-yard catch and Jeremy Smith's 13-yard run set up Stewart's 15-yard TD catch.

Florence responded with a 3-yard rushing touchdown to give Baylor a 31-17 lead with 3 1/2 minutes remaining.

The margin was the same after Sharp and Jones made field goals of 43 and 23 yards, respectively, in the third quarter.

Oklahoma State got within seven late in the fourth stanza. Stewart caught passes of 20 and 23 yards to move the ball into Baylor territory. Walsh capped the 12-play drive with a 4-yard TD run, making it 34-27 with 5 1/2 minutes to play.

But on the first play of the ensuing Baylor possession, Seastrunk found a hole up the middle and sprinted 76 yards for a touchdown. He appeared to pull a hamstring late in the run.

David Glidden's 18-yard TD catch with over a minute left cut the gap to 41-34, but the Cowboys failed to recover the ensuing onside kick.
