Nicholls QB Klann to miss 2013 season

May 9, 2013 - 4:34 PM Thibodaux, LA (Sports Network) - Nicholls quarterback Landry Klann will have upcoming shoulder surgery and is expected to sit out the 2013 season as a medical redshirt.

Klann, who started the majority of last year's games, was held out of Nicholl's spring practice, which concluded recently.

Junior Beaux Hebert, son of former NFL quarterback Bobby Hebert, is the favorite to win the starter's job.

"I was really pleased to see Beaux Hebert have a very productive final scrimmage. I know that he is making significant progress and he finished the spring as our No. 1 quarterback," coach Charlie Stubbs said.

"Landry Klann, who started for us the majority of the 2012 season, is going to have shoulder surgery in May and he'll use his redshirt this upcoming season. Tuskani Figaro did a very good job, but he was limited in his throwing, especially the deep ball, after coming off of a shoulder injury. But overall I thought he had a strong spring. And I thought Hayden Cardiff and Dash Duncan showed some promise, but they just need to work on being more consistent."

Nicholls finished 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the Southland Conference last season for the second straight year. Stubbs is entering his fourth season with the Colonels.
