New Haven coach may take reins at Central Connecticut State

Jan 19, 2014 - 10:00 PM New Britain, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - University of New Haven football coach Peter Rossomando has accepted the head coaching position at Central Connecticut State, according to a report.

FootballScoop.com reported Rossomando will succeed Jeff McInerney, who announced his resignation in November after eight seasons.

The Hartford Courant earlier named Rossomando as the front-runner for the position.

Rossomando has turned New Haven into a Division II power while compiling a 42-13 record the last five seasons. He led the Chargers to three consecutive Northeast-10 Conference titles from 2010-12. They advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals in 2011, and he was named the division's national coach of the year in 2012.

CCSU finished with a 4-8 record in McInerney's final season.
