South downs North in Senior Bowl

Jan 26, 2014 - 12:58 AM Mobile, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Derek Carr and David Fales each fired a touchdown pass and defensive end Dee Ford took home MVP honors, as the South claimed a 20-10 victory over the North on Saturday in the 2014 Senior Bowl.

Carr completed 7-of-12 passes for 45 yards, 17 of which came on a first- quarter scoring strike to tight end Crockett Gillmore, who finished with a game-high 61 receiving yards on five grabs.

Fales connected on all but one of his seven passes for 104 yards with an interception, while Ford racked up two sacks and kept the North's quarterbacks under constant pressure.

Tajh Boyd, the starting signal-caller for the North, struggled to find his rhythm, going just 7-of-16 passing for 31 yards with an interception. Stephen Morris completed 10-of-18 passes for 89 yards, but was picked off twice in the loss.

James White rushed for 62 yards on 11 carries and scored the North's only touchdown.

Boyd's interception came on the opening drive of the game and set up Carr's 17-yard connection with Gillmore that gave the South an early edge.

Cody Parkey kicked a 50-yard field goal later in the first to extend the South's lead before knocking down a 39-yard try early in the second to make it 13-0.

Fales and Kevin Norwood got together on a 24-yard scoring strike on the South's next touch before Chris Boswell buried a 38-yard field goal to bring the North within 20-3 heading into halftime.

White's 1-yard TD run midway through the fourth quarter brought the North within 10, but Keith McGill intercepted Morris to end the North's next touch and seal the outcome.
