Georgetown to host six in Sgarlata's first season

Feb 26, 2014 - 7:47 PM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Georgetown University's football program will play six home matchups as part of an 11-game schedule in head coach Rob Sgarlata's first season.

The Patriot League school, which announced the schedule Wednesday, will kick off the season on Aug. 30 by hosting Wagner at Multi-Sport Field.

The Hoyas also will host Brown (Sept. 20) and Harvard (Oct. 4) in other non- league games, and Patriot League opponents Bucknell (Oct. 25, Homecoming), Lehigh (Nov. 1) and Holy Cross (Nov. 22).

Georgetown's will go on the road to face Dayton (Sept. 6) and Marist (Sept. 13) in non-league action, and Colgate (Sept. 27), Lafayette (Oct. 11) and Fordham (Nov. 15) in Patriot action.

Sgarlata, a 1994 Georgetown graduate who has been a Hoyas assistant coach the last 18 seasons, has taken over a team that finished 2-9 overall and 1-4 in league games last season. The Hoyas are the only Patriot League program that does not award football scholarships.
