Impressive Georgia Tech hosts BC in ACC opener

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Tashard Choice and Georgia Tech have impressed thus far this season, but their competition gets significantly tougher this weekend.

Choice and the 15th-ranked Yellow Jackets host No. 21 Boston College in an intriguing Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.

Georgia Tech has outscored its first two opponents this season, Notre Dame and Samford, by a combined 102-17.

But the Fighting Irish are rebuilding without star quarterback Brady Quinn and the Bulldogs play in the lower Football Championship Subdivision.

Choice ranks ninth in the nation in rushing at 153 yards per game and has four touchdowns this season. Last week, the senior had 110 yards and a score in a 69-14 rout of Samford here.

The Yellow Jackets have their most points through two weeks since 1936.

While Georgia Tech of the Coastal Division will be playing its ACC opener, Boston College is 2-0 in the Atlantic Division after downing Wake Forest and North Carolina State.

In last week's 37-17 triumph over the Wolfpack, Andre Callender ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles downed former coach Tom O'Brien, who left the program following last season.

Boston College is just 1-4 in the all-time series but won the last meeting, 41-31, here in 1998, when the Eagles were in the Big East Conference.
