Boston College hosts Buffalo in non-conference matchup
Oct 24, 2006 - 8:22 PM Buffalo (1-6) at No. 18 Boston College (6-1), 1:00 pm EDTCHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) - After a pair of impressive Atlantic Coast Conference victories, No. 18 Boston College steps out of league play to take on lowly Buffalo on Saturday.
The Eagles (6-1) followed up a 22-3 home win over Virginia Tech with a 24-19 triumph at Florida State last weekend.
Matt Ryan shook off a left foot injury to complete 16-of-26 passes for 262 yards for the Eagles, who took control with 21 second-quarter points but did not secure victory until Larry Anam intercepted Drew Weatherford's "Hail Mary" pass in the end zone on the final play.
Buffalo (1-6) opened its season with a 9-3 triumph over abysmal Temple but has not won since.
Last week, the Bulls slipped to 0-5 in the Mid-American Conference with a 42-7 defeat at Ohio. James Starks had a four-yard TD run but Buffalo was limited to 39 yards on the ground and 171 overall.
The Eagles are 5-2 all-time against the Bulls, but the teams have not met since 1970.
