Troy gets last chance to play giant killer at Nebraska

Sep 20, 2006 - 12:14 AM Troy (1-2) at No. 23 Nebraska (2-1), 7:00 pm EDT

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Ticker) - Troy has hung around with the big boys but has not been able to close the deal. The Trojans get one last shot Saturday.

After close calls against Florida State and Georgia Tech, Troy will look to pull off a major upset Saturday when it visits No. 23 Nebraska.

Troy (1-2) held a 17-10 fourth-quarter lead over Florida State before allowing 14 points in the final six minutes, including the winning touchdown with 1:56 to play.

Last week, the Trojans and Yellow Jackets were tied, 14-14, heading into the final period before Georgia Tech finally pulled away.

The Trojans will need a big game from Omar Haugabook if they are to pull off the upset. Haugabook completed 18-of-32 passes for 182 yards and also ran for a one-yard touchdown. Gary Banks caught eight passes for 104 yards and a TD, his fourth of the season.

Nebraska (2-1) faces a Trojans team for the second straight week but should find it a bit easier going this time around. In last week's loss to USC, the Cornhuskers were limited to 211 total yards, including just 68 rushing on 36 attempts.

Senior Zac Taylor will look to bounce back from a tough outing against Southern Cal. He has thrown seven TD passes in three games but was held in check last week, going 8-of-16 for 115 yards.

Nebraska leads the all-time series, 3-0, with all three meetings held here. The Cornhuskers won the last meeting, 30-0, in 2003.

Troy is 1-7 all-time against members of the Big 12 Conference.
