UCLA TE Wilson out for season with broken foot

Oct 2, 2017 - 7:09 PM UCLA redshirt sophomore tight end Caleb Wilson, in the midst of a breakout year, will miss the rest of the season because of a broken foot suffered Saturday in a home victory over Colorado.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the news Sunday night.

Wilson responded on social media, writing, "Might not be on the field for a little while, but my energy, passion and love for my team will go nowhere."

Wilson opened the season with 15 catches for 208 yards in UCLA's wild 45-44 comeback victory over Texas A&M. Even with subsequent increased attention from defenses, he posted 32 catches for 425 yards and a touchdown in five games.

Wilson made 10 catches last season, his first at UCLA after spending the 2015 season as a walk-on at USC.

Junior Austin Roberts, who had a 12-yard touchdown catch against Colorado, is likely to become the starter. UCLA (3-2) is off this week in advance of an Oct. 14 game at Arizona.
