Wisconsin can tie school record for wins vs. Buffalo
Nov 14, 2006 - 10:23 PM Buffalo (2-8) at No. 12 Wisconsin (10-1), 12:00 pm ESTMADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) - Bret Bielema's first season as Wisconsin's football coach has been an unqualified success.
The 12th-ranked Badgers can tie the school record for single-season victories with a win over lowly Buffalo on Saturday.
Wisconsin (10-1), which won 11 games in 1998 under Barry Alvarez, concluded Big Ten Conference play with a 7-1 mark after defeating Iowa on the road last Saturday, 24-21.
Making his first start in place of the injured John Stocco (right shoulder), junior Tyler Donovan completed 17-of-24 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns without an interception to help Bielema - who played at Iowa - become the first coach in Big Ten history to win 10 games in his first season.
Stocco is first on the depth chart for Saturday's game.
The Bulls (2-8) also are playing for a new coach this year, Turner Gill. They lost for the seventh time in eight games with a 31-16 setback at Akron last Thursday to slip to 1-6 in Mid-American Conference play.
The teams will be meeting for the first time.
No one has shouted yet.
