Overview
After a 6-0 start that included wins over LSU and Florida, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops appeared to finally have the team in Lexington to compete for a New Years Day bowl. Three straight losses, including last week versus Tennessee, have the Wildcats holding onto that hope for dear life.
Despite controlling the ball for 46 minutes of play and racking up more than 600 yards of offense, the Wildcats failed to get critical stops late and all but knocked themselves out of contention for a Big six bowl game.
On the other side of this matchup, the Commodores are the only winless team left in the conference and come into this one fresh off a bye, potentially poised for their best chance to get one thus far.
With the week off, the Commodores are optimistic about the return of running back Rocko Griffin, defensive back De’Rickey Wright, and most notably QB Ken Seals. However, they are all officially listed as questionable as of Thursday afternoon.

Trends
- Commodores 0-4 ATS in L4 seasons following a bye
- Wildcats 0-3-1 ATS in L4 in November
Bottom Line
For first-year head coach Clark Lea, things are going about as many expected they would be his first year on campus. A young nucleus paired with a brutal schedule has left little chance for Vanderbilt to find success though it has not been for lack of effort.
While Kentucky has the players across the board to easily win this one outright, I think we see a largely deflated team who just went from 6-0 to 6-3 and whose motivation should certainly be diminished at best.
Pick: Commodores +21
