That was a tough way to lose against a Top 5 opponent on Saturday, so let’s just put that one in the rearview mirror and move on to the next one.

Future Opponents

(4-0) Florida State 44—Boston College 14 (1-3)

Are the Noles good or is BC just that bad? It’s probably a little of both. Trey Benson took the opening kickoff back 93 yards for a touchdown and this game was basically over before it began—FSU led 21-0 after just 10 minutes of game time. Jordan Travis came back from the walking boot the game prior and threw for 321 yards to lead the Noles. FSU is 4-0, but they have played a questionable LSU team, an FCS team, and the 2 worst teams in the Atlantic Division. We will find out this week if they are the real deal. Boston College, on the other hand, is in for long season.

(2-2) Louisville 41—USF 3

Turns out Malik Cunningham is still really good at football. The senior QB led the Cards with 299 total yards and 4 total touchdowns as Louisville outgained the Bulls 542 to 158. That’s just complete domination. Of course, USF is 0-14 in their last 14 road games and 4-21 under head coach Jeff Scott, so this might not mean that much.

(4-0) NC State 41—UConn 10

Honestly, teams that schedule an FCS team and UConn in the same season should be ashamed of themselves. The Huskies are the worst FBS team in the nation and could realistically be worse than several FCS teams. There’s basically nothing to take away from this game since UConn has won 5 total games since 2018 and continues to be a laughingstock. We’ll see what NC State is made of this week when they head the Death Valley.

(3-1) North Carolina 32—Notre Dame 45

I don’t think Notre Dame is very good this season, but I know that the North Carolina defense is very bad. The Tar Heels gave up 576 yards of total offense and 45 points to a Fighting Irish team that was averaging 300 yards and 18 points per game in their first 3 games. Drake Maye continues to impress with 301 yards passing and 5 touchdowns, accounting for basically all of UNC’s offense. I feel like every game the Heels win this season will be solely due to Maye being that guy.

(4-0) Syracuse 22—Virginia 20

The Orange got the win, but they look more vulnerable after a close game with a Virginia team that is not very good this season. Syracuse finished with just 350 total yards and 4 turnovers. The Hoos completely took away Cuse’s run game, allowing just 75 rushing yards on 38 attempts. Garrett Shrader led the Orange to victory with his arm, throwing for 277 yards with a 67% completion rate. Virginia had a chance to score with about a minute left, but the Orange defense held to secure the victory. Syracuse has played 3 out of their 4 games this season at home, and the one road game was at UConn, the aforementioned laughingstock. The rest of the schedule could get pretty tough for the Orange as they have to go on the road.

(3-1) Duke 27—Kansas 35

Kansas is getting a lot of hype lately and I kind of think most of it is a joke because of how bad they have been in recent history—I really don’t think either of these teams are that good to be perfectly honest. Duke QB Riley Leonard accounted for 378 of Duke’s 463 total yards, and much like UNC’s Drake Maye, I think he could be the real deal for the Blue Devils in the future. There’s a long way to go before we play Duke, so we’ll have to see how they fare in what is shaping up to be a pretty weak Coastal Division.

Before you freak out, Kaidon Salter was out for this game, which means Liberty was down to their 3rd string QB in Jonathan Bennett. Bennett completed just 13 of his 27 pass attempts for 2 touchdowns and an interception,
