While it was a rough game on Saturday night there is one player that stood out. Pittsburgh Panthers IDL Calijah Kancey was named to the PFF team of the week.

This way Kancey’s highest graded game of the year at 90.2 grade. Kancey was credited for eight tackles and one sack, as well as six hurries. This continues the impressive start to the season for Kancey. Overall he is Pitt’s highest-rated player on defense on the season, with an impressive 90.5 grade on the season as a whole. This is highlighted by a 91.9 pass-rush grade through the first five weeks.

When comparing it to the rest of the players at his position. Kancey has emerged as not only the second-best IDL in the ACC according to PFF, but top five in the nation.

It’s been an impressive season overall for Kancey so far. With three sacks and 15 pressures on the season, Kancey has been a steady force up front for the Panther’s defense. Kancey will look to continue this stretch against a Virginia Tech team that has been good at limiting the opposing teams from getting to the quarterback. The Hokies have only allowed seven sacks on the season, currently good for 3rd best in the ACC.

Kancey has a prime opportunity to prove why PFF included him as one of the best in the country on Saturday afternoon.
