LSU aims to continue dominance of Mississippi State

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Charles Scott will try to keep Louisiana State undefeated against a familiar punching bag.

Scott seeks a fourth straight 100-yard rushing performance Saturday when sixth-ranked LSU goes for its ninth consecutive win over Mississippi State when the Southeastern Conference foes face off in Baton Rouge.

The Tigers have won 15 of their last 16 meetings with the Bulldogs, including a 45-0 whooping in Starkville last season.

A junior, Scott rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries and Jarrett Lee tossed a pair of touchdowns to lead LSU to a 26-21 victory over Auburn last Saturday. With the win, the Tigers grabbed the inside track for an SEC West crown.

Brandon LaFell, Chris Mitchell and Demetrius Byrd each hauled in a TD reception last week for LSU (3-0, 1-0 SEC West), which has rotated Lee and Andrew Hatch at quarterback.

The defending national champions, the Tigers have not lost a contest in regulation since October 7, 2006.

Scott should help keep that streak alive in this one. He has collected 394 of the team's 660 rushing yards this season.

Mississippi State (1-3, 0-1) is hoping to avoid a third straight loss. After faltering against Auburn, 3-2, two weeks ago, the Bulldogs suffered a 38-7 beating to Georgia Tech last Saturday.

MSU was gashed for 438 rushing yards against the Yellow Jackets' triple option, and it won't be any easier this week with Scott leading the Tigers' talented ground attack.
