Oklahoma hosts No. 23 TCU in non-conference clash

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Sam Bradford was a star at Putnam City North High School the last time Oklahoma faced TCU. Rest assured that Bob Stoops has informed his quarterback and the rest of the Sooners what transpired the last time the Horned Frogs rolled into Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Bradford and the second-ranked Sooners play their final non-conference game Saturday when they host No. 23 TCU, which will attempt to stun Oklahoma for the second time in four years.

In the last meeting between these schools, the Horned Frogs stifled then-No. 5 Oklahoma for a 17-10 victory on September 3, 2005.

The upset snapped Oklahoma's 19-game home winning streak and marked just the second time that the Sooners lost here under Stoops. Oklahoma has not lost a home game since and enter Saturday with a 20-game winning streak here.

Behind Bradford, a redshirt sophomore, the Sooners (3-0) have gotten off to an outstanding start this season and will enter league play as the prohibitive favorite to win the Big 12 Conference crown.

Bradford threw for 304 yards, matched a career high with five touchdown passes and ran for another score on September 13 as Oklahoma routed Washington, 55-14.

It was the 100th career victory for Stoops, who claims that the Sooners will be well prepared for the Horned Frogs after enjoying a bye last week.

"I thought we used the off week in a good way," he said. "We were able to prepare and get some extra work on TCU and rest and heal up a little bit. Again, we are just excited to be back in game week."

Oklahoma fans certainly are excited with the play of Bradford, who has completed 79 percent of his passes for 882 yards, 12 TDs and just two interceptions in three games.

The Sooners, who also feature a star-studded running game headlined by DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown, have scored a whopping 164 points over their first three games and have eclipsed the 50-point mark in each contest.

Oklahoma may have a harder time scoring against the Horned Frogs (4-0), who have yielded a total of just 31 points this season and have allowed an average of just 183 yards per game - the best mark in the country.

"They are No. 1 in the country both defensively and in turnover margin," Stoops said. "They are a hard-playing, talented football team."

In its last contest, TCU rolled to a 48-7 triumph at Southern Methodist last Saturday. Joseph Turner ran for 67 yards and two touchdowns for the Horned Frogs, who limited the Mustangs to minus-eight rushing yards.
