Hall, BYU look to extend longest winning streak in nation

LOGAN, Utah (Ticker) -- Brigham Young just keeps winning.

Max Hall and seventh-ranked BYU will attempt to extend the nation's longest winning streak to 15 games when they visit Utah State on Friday.

The Cougars (4-0) have been strong throughout their winning streak but have appeared to reach a new level over the past two games, outscoring their opponents by a 103-0 margin.

Three weeks ago, Hall passed for 271 yards and seven touchdowns in a 59-0 victory over UCLA. He followed that performance with 189 passing yards and three scores in a little more than a half during a 44-0 triumph over Wyoming on September 20.

Not that they needed it, but the Cougars also had some extra time to prepare for the Aggies. During their bye week, the Cougars watched a slew of upsets and shot up in both polls.

Utah State (1-3) already has surrendered 168 points through its first four games of the season and will now have to deal with Hall and the rest of BYU's explosive offense, which averages 42 points and 482 yards per game.

Despite playing outside a BCS conference, Hall is emerging as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate. The junior has passed for 1,284 yards and 15 scores with two interceptions this season.

Hall has completed 74 percent (107-of-144) of his passes and he also rushed for a TD in the season opener.

The Aggies are coming off their first win of the campaign, as Robert Turbin rushed for 123 yards and a score during a 42-7 win over Idaho on September 20.
