BYU faces road test at No. 24 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas (Ticker) -- Brigham Young cannot move up in the rankings, as the Cougars remained eighth in the coaches' poll for the second straight week. All they can do is keep winning.

BYU looks to extend the longest winning streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision to 17 games on Thursday night when it visits No. 24 TCU with first place on the line in the Mountain West Conference.

The Cougars (6-0, 2-0 Mountain West) are coming off a 21-3 victory over New Mexico, the third straight home game in which they did not allow a touchdown. BYU spotted the Lobos a 3-0 lead, then scored 21 straight points.

Max Hall threw three touchdowns and Austin Collie had nine receptions for a career-high 155 yards.

While the Cougars have outscored their last three home opponents by a combined 124-3, they could get tested at TCU (6-1, 3-0), which is actually a half-game ahead of BYU in the Mountain West standings.

The Horned Frogs have allowed just seven points in each of the last two games, and their only loss was a 35-10 defeat at then-No. 2 Oklahoma on September 27.

TCU was blanked in the second half of last week's 13-7 win at Colorado State. But the Horned Frogs enter this contest leading the nation in rushing defense and total defense.

The Horned Frogs held Colorado State to 11 yards rushing and 199 total yards, shutting out the Rams after allowing a touchdown on the game's opening possession.

Last season, BYU defeated TCU, 27-22, in Provo.

TCU is in the top 25 for the second time this season, having climbed to No. 23 before the loss to Oklahoma.
