College Football Week 12 Odds, Picks & Predictions for Wednesday

Miami (OH) vs. Northern Illinois

A pair of bottom-feeder MAC teams will go at it tonight at Northern Illinois as the 3-7 Huskies host the 4-6 Miami RedHawks. For the Huskies, this season has been one to forget, losing five straight throughout September and October and never recovering from there. One of the worst defenses in the country, NIU comes into this matchup allowing 32 points per game.

They won’t be overly concerned coming into this one, however, as Miami’s offense is amongst the worst in the country. Coming into the week, Miami ranks 116th or worse in points scored (19.6), total yards accrued (301.2), and passing yards (158.8).

Simply put, neither of these teams is very good even within the MAC, and both are likely looking forward to the last game of the season next week. Miami does still have bowl eligibility to play for, and I think we see that motivation come through in this one.

Eastern Michigan vs. Kent State

Having already clinched bowl eligibility, the Eastern Michigan Eagles are still in contention for the MAC West, but they’ll need a win here and some help to accomplish that goal. They’ll have to rely on what’s got them to this point, one of the best secondaries in the MAC that comes into this one allowing just 219.7 yards through the air.

As for the Kent State Golden Flashes, a chance to play in the MAC Championship game has already passed, but that doesn’t mean they are playing for nothing. With a win here, the Golden Flashes will be one win away from bowl eligibility, something they could grab with a win next week at Buffalo. Currently averaging 210.3 yards per game on the ground, Kent State will likely once again rely on their rushing attack in this one.

I like a similar approach from Eastern Michigan in this one, as this one stays below the already sinking total.
