Rich Scangarello is out.

According to reporter Sean Moody, Scangarello has been let go following his one and only season as offensive coordinator of the Kentucky Wildcats.

While there was certainly a lot of blame to go around for the underwhelming season UK just had when preseason expectations were at an all-time high, Scangarello’s offense was easily the biggest culprit. His insistence on trying to force UK’s personnel to adjust to his offense instead of adjusting his offense to UK’s personnel will ultimately be what his downfall was.

With just a bowl game left to play, here is where Kentucky’s offense ranks in the major offensive categories.

Not great Bob.

It is unclear who will be Kentucky’s offensive coordinator during the bowl game, or who the early candidates for Scangarello’s replacement are for head coach Mark Stoops.

It’s not the great look that Kentucky will be on its four offensive coordinator in four years, but give Stoops credit for not taking the conservative route and standing pat.

If nothing else, thank goodness we don’t have to think about Scang’s offense for the next nine months while waiting for the 2023 college football season.
