The saga is finally over. Per The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, the South Florida Bulls have hired Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator Alex Golesh to be their next head coach.

Golesh spent the last two seasons as the OC for the Vols under Josh Heupel where they put up video games numbers in the SEC, and helped transform Tennessee into a contender in 2022. Golesh and company were aided by the ascension of QB Hendon Hooker into a star.

Prior to Tennessee, Golesh was the Co-OC and TE coach at Central Florida with Heupel. He spent four seasons as TE coach and recruiting coordinator for Matt Campbell and Iowa State. He also coached under Campbell at Toledo as well.

Golesh spent four years at Illinois in various roles, including running backs coach, special teams coach, and recruiting coordinator.

Golesh was born in Russia before moving to Ohio as a kid.

It’s clear Golesh wasn’t Michael Kelly’s first option, or maybe even third option, but USF now has a head coach, and everyone can breath, until the next thing.
