The UCF Knights will face the Duke Blue Devils in the 2022 Military Bowl.

The game will take place on Wednesday, December 28th at 2 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland and will be televised on ESPN.

About the Blue Devils

Duke finished 8-4 overall and third in the ACC Coastal Division. Head coach Mike Elko was named the ACC’s Coach of the Year.

The Blue Devils opened the season 3-0, but lost three of their next four games against Kansas (L), Syracuse (W), Georgia Tech (L), and North Carolina (L). They would then win the next three against Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech before splitting against Pittsburgh (L) and Wake Forest (W) to close out the season.

Against like opponents, UCF is 2-0 against Temple and Georgia Tech while Duke is 1-1. Duke defeated Temple 30-0 in the season opener but lost to Georgia Tech 23-20 in overtime back on October 9th.

About the Military Bowl

The 13th edition of the Military Bowl is the first game of a triple-header on ESPN on December 28th and will be the first time the game has been played since 2019. The game was canceled in 2020 due to a lack of available teams. East Carolina and Boston College were scheduled to play in 2021, but that game was also canceled. The game has featured an American Athletic Conference team versus a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference since 2014.

This will be UCF’s first appearance in the Military Bowl and will be the furthest north the Knights will have ever traveled for a postseason game. This will also be UCF’s fourteenth bowl game in school history and a school-record seventh straight. This will also be UCF’s first matchup against Duke.

UCF is 6-7 all-time in bowl games. Duke is 6-8.
