College Football 2022 Bowl Game Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (12/29)

Dec 28, 2022 - 3:49 PM

Following nine games through the first three days of the week, our attention turns to Thursday with just three games on the board. With the CFP games on New Year’s Eve now quickly approaching, let’s take a closer look at two games I’m dialed in on for Thursday’s action.

Oklahoma vs. Florida State

  • Leg 1: Florida State -9.5 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Alternate TotalOver 69.5 (+120)
  • Leg 3: Oklahoma Team Total – Over 27.5 (-110)

It’s safe to say that Florida State has their man in head coach Mike Norvell, no matter what transpires in this game. After beginning October with a three-game losing streak, the Seminoles went on a five-game winning streak, covering the spread in four of them, and scoring more than 38 points in each game.

Jordan Travis, the team’s starting quarterback, was a key factor in their victories and has already said he’ll be returning next year; including this game.  The most crucial thing in the short term is participating in this bowl game for Travis, and I expect a motivated team around him throughout.

The same cannot be said about Oklahoma. A 6-6 record is undoubtedly not what supporters had in mind for new head coach Brent Venables’ debut campaign. The primary issues were brought to light in their final regular-season game, which they lost to Texas Tech 48–51.

With the defeat, the Sooners’ regular-season ranking on defense in terms of points, overall yards, passing yards, and running yards allowed all dropped to 100th or worse. Not the best for a leader who is renowned for his defense. Before the end of 2022, anticipate Travis and Norvell to profit once more, in a game I think the Seminoles run away with as the contest turns into a shootout.

Texas vs. Washington

  • Leg 1: Washington ML (+136)
  • Leg 2: Washington +3.5 (-120)
  • Leg 3: Alternate Total – Over 73.5 (+176)

The Huskies ended the regular season with just two losses and six straight victories to close things out, falling one game short of the PAC-12 Championship game when all was said and done. Michael Penix Jr., an Indiana transfer quarterback, led the nation in both passing yards per game (376.6) and total offensive yards (521.7) for the whole season.

In September, the Texas Longhorns, under the leadership of head coach Steve Sarkisian, fell one point short of defeating Alabama. The loss was symbolic of their season, starting a trend for them as they only lost by more than three points to CFP Finalist TCU. Texas finished the season winning three of its final four games, scoring 34 points or more in each victory.

In this game, Penix will be a huge worry for Texas because the Longhorns have allowed 239 yards through the air per game this year, ranking 88th in the nation. Watch for Washington to score a lot in this one, as Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers matches him deep into the fourth quarter.

The Huskies should pull out a close one.
