2022 Fiesta Bowl Game Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Saturday (12/31)

Dec 29, 2022 - 12:08 PM

Similar to the bowl season of the previous year, Michigan is again gearing up for the College Football Playoff semifinals. If the No. 2 Wolverines want to make it to the national title game this time around, they will have to beat a completely different foe.

In the Orange Bowl a year ago, they were overwhelmed by Georgia’s tremendously strong defense and lost 34-11. This year at the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve, they are more concerned about No. 3 TCU’s potent offense, led by Heisman Trophy runner-up Max Duggan.

Let’s take a closer look at how this one might play out in Glendale, Ariz. before the clock strikes midnight.

FanDuel No Sweat First Bet up to $1000

(#3) TCU Horned Frogs vs. (#2) Michigan Wolverines

Bet No. 1: Max Duggan Rushing TDs – Over 0.5 (+190)

Recently announcing that he will join the NFL Draft in April, Max Duggan hopes to have at least two more chances to make his alma mater proud. This season, he passed for 3,321 yards, 30 touchdowns and only four interceptions, finishing one of the best seasons in program history. As the Horned Frogs (12-1) stayed unbeaten until an overtime loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship, he scored six rushing touchdowns on the season and should provide a real threat to this Michigan defense.

I like for him to use his legs in this one to find pay dirt at least once.

Bet No. 2: Kendre Miller Rushing Yards – Under 77.5 (-110)

TCU ranks sixth in the country with a 40.3 point per game average, as the Horned Frogs have leaned on Kendre Miller in their running game in addition to Duggan. Coming into this one, Miller has racked up 1,342 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground on the ground this season.

However, Miller will see a different animal in this one, facing a Michigan defense that is No. 3 in the country, allowing just 85.2 yards per game. Look for TCU Head Coach Sonny Dykes to lean passing attack and the Wolverines to keep Miller in check.

Bet No. 3: Donovan Edwards Rushing Yards – Over 136.5 (-120)

Blake Corum, Michigan’s top running back, won’t be playing since he had knee surgery earlier this month, ending his season. Donovan Edwards has shown himself to be a lot more than just a competent backup.

Edwards amassed 216 yards and two touchdowns on the ground against Ohio State, then 185 yards and a score against Purdue in the Big Ten Championship. Behind one of the best offensive lines in the country, look for another big game for Edwards, as the game plan will likely focus around the back.
