Knights in the Pros: NFL Playoff Preview

The NFL regular season has come to an end, and now begins one of the most exciting events in sports, the NFL Playoffs. Let’s take a look at which former UCF Knights have a chance to get a Super Bowl ring.

Gabe Davis — Buffalo Bills

Considering Davis, who played for the Knights from 2017 to 2019, set the record for most touchdowns in a playoff game in his last postseason game, it’s fair to say he has some high expectations coming into the playoffs. He is coming off a solid season.

Davis, alongside and Pro Bowlers Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen, helped the Bills' offense rank second in the NFL. Expect him to continue to play a pivotal role in the Bills’ offensive attack this season.

Davis and the Bills will face the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round on Sunday.

Breshad Perriman — Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Perriman, who played for the Knights from 2012 to 2014, served mainly as a backup this season. He came in occasionally as most of Tom Brady’s throws were to guys like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Perriman should see a few plays this postseason, but not much.

Perriman and the Bucs will face the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round on Monday.

Shaquill Griffin — Jacksonville Jaguars

Griffin, who played for the Knights from 2013 to 2016, will not play in these playoffs due to suffering a back injury in Week 6. That is unfortunate for the Jaguars. As a former pro bowler, Griffin would have been a huge asset to their defense.

Griffin’s Jaguars will face the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round on Saturday.

Jordan Franks and Matthew Wright — Kansas City Chiefs

Franks, who played for the Knights from 2014 to 2017, will most likely not play in these playoffs due to being on the Chiefs’ practice squad.

Wright, who played for the Knights from 2015 to 2018, is also a member of the Chiefs practice squad and will most likely not play in the postseason, unless Harrson Butker’s lingering injury flares up again.

The Chiefs received a bye and will not play in the Wild Card Round. They will play in the Divisional Round against the lowest-ranked remaining AFC team.

Tay Gowan — Minnesota Vikings

Gowan, who played for the Knights from 2019 to 2020, is currently a member of the Vikings practice squad and is unlikely he will play in the playoffs.

Aaron Robinson — New York Giants

Robinson, who played for the Knights from 2017 to 2020, was ruled out for the year a result of tearing his ACL and partially tearing his MCL in Week 4. He will not appear in the playoffs.

Robinson’s Giants will face Gowan’s Vikings in the Wild Card Round on Sunday.

Kalia Davis — San Francisco 49ers

Kalia Davis, who played for the Knights from 2017 to 2021, is currently on the 49ers’ Reserve/non-football injury list. If the 49ers choose to move him to the active roster, Davis will be able to play in the playoffs.

Davis’ 49ers will face the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round on Saturday.
