Kansas rallies in fourth quarter to edge South Florida

Sep 24, 2006 - 3:57 AM LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Kansas' offense made a fashionably late arrival.

Jon Cornish scored on a two-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to highlight a productive all-around game as the Jayhawks rallied for a 13-7 triumph over South Florida.

Kansas (3-1) faced a 7-3 deficit entering the final period before Cornish capped a seven-play, 79-yard drive with his TD plunge on 3rd-and-goal.

Cornish finished with 105 yards on 26 carries and hauled in six catches for 14 yards.

Adam Barmann completed 25-of-35 passes for 273 yards for the Jayhawks, who capped the scoring with 9:01 remaining on Scott Webb's 42-yard field goal. Webb also kicked a 37-yarder in the first quarter.

South Florida's Matt Grothe went 17-of-32 for 196 yards and also rushed for 66 yards on 18 carries. Ean Randolph had five catches for 47 yards for the Bulls (3-1), who were outgained, 391-309, and held the ball for less than 25 minutes.
