Welcome to Friday Dawg Bites, where among the questions is who will be the Dawgs QB1.

Regardless of who it is, they will have the benefit of an offensive line that has grown closer. For a group that already has proven talent, that’s a very good thing, not to mention a peace of mind for whoever Mike Bobo taps to lead the offense.

Here and there last year, we saw Oscar Delp fill in for Darnell Washington behind Brock Bowers. Delp will be asked to do that on a heavier basis this year, and from all indications, he is taking those expectations with stride.

NFL Draft projections are obviously all over the place. Except for the Falcons, who are likely to pass up Georgia players - a springtime tradition unlike any other.

There’s a lot of buzz on where Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith will land early. As for Broderick Jones? Let’s just say it’s good news for Georgia fans that became Steelers fans when Hines Ward played in the Steel City.

One of the biggest differences in Kirby Smart’s Georgia came in his first G-Day Game as head coach. No, it had nothing to do with halftime entertainment. Rather - during warmups with the mass of support staff on the field.

In today’s college football world, having support staff, some of whom are seasoned, is at times more important than on-field hires, and Georgia has done that in bringing in former Clemson and Texas A&M staffers Brandon Streeter and Darrell Dickey for mere peanuts.

Georgia recently added some athleticism to its 2024 signing class with the commitment of Demello Jones. Like many players at a school of Jones’ size in Swainsboro, he plays both sides of the ball, but odds are good that he’ll end up playing defensive back for the Dawgs.

Go Dawgs!
