Broncos edge Cardinals in preseason finale

Aug 31, 2012 - 6:18 AM Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Matt Prater kicked three field goals in the fourth quarter, including the game-winner as time expired, to help the Denver Broncos take a 16-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the final game of the preseason.

Omar Bolden returned a kickoff 103 yards in the third quarter for the only touchdown of the game for the Broncos, who went 2-2 in the preseason.

Caleb Hanie was 7-of-13 for 75 yards while Ronnie Hillman totaled 14 carries for 68 yards for Denver.

Peyton Manning didn't play a snap in the game for the Broncos, but he will be under center for a regular season game for the first time since 2010 when Denver hosts the Steelers on Sept. 9 in the night game.

Ryan Lindley passed for 176 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Cardinals, who finished 1-4 in the preseason.

Arizona starts its 2012 season on Sept. 9 when it hosts Seattle.

The Cardinals had tied the game with under a minute to play on a 35-yard field goal from Jay Feely, but the Broncos got into scoring position quickly when Adam Weber heaved the ball down the right side where Greg Orton came down with a leaping, 45-yard catch.

After Weber took a knee to line the ball up, Prater kicked it through the uprights from 44 yards out as time expired.

The only score of the first half came early in the second quarter when Michael Floyd caught a 22-yard score from Lindley to give the Cardinals a 7-0 lead.

Feely's 41-yard field goal gave Arizona a 10-point advantage, but Bolden cut into that on the ensuing kickoff with his score.

Prater's 19-yard field goal with just over eight minutes to play, then he gave the team a 13-10 lead on a 43-yarder with 4 1/2 minutes left. His second field goal was set up on an interception of Lindley by Syd'Quan Thompson.
