Dalton, Bengals top Titans

Aug 18, 2013 - 2:31 AM Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Andy Dalton passed for 115 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-14 attempts as the Cincinnati Bengals took a 27-19 win over the Tennessee Titans on Saturday.

Giovani Bernard and Daniel Herron each had a touchdown run while Mohamed Sanu caught a touchdown pass for the Bengals, who have won both of their preseason games thus far.

Jake Locker started under center and went 12-for-20 with 116 yards, while Ryan Fitzpatrick was 9-for-13 for 136 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans, who are now 0-2 in the preseason.

Rob Bironas kicked a 44-yard field goal on Tennessee's first possession of the game, but then missed a 38-yarder after the Titans had excellent field position following a recovery of a Dalton fumble.

Dalton then led the Bengals on a 72-yard march and the eight-play drive was capped on a 1-yard touchdown run from Bernard for a 7-3 lead with 3:56 to play in the first quarter.

Cincinnati's next drive spanned the first and second quarters as the 12-play march saw the team again find the end zone when Dalton hit Sanu on a 2-yard score for a 14-3 lead 2 1/2 minutes into the second quarter.

Following another miss from Bironas, this one from 37 yards out, Mike Nugent hit a 38-yard field goal at the two-minute warning to give the Bengals a 17-3 lead going into the halftime break.

Maikon Bonani hit a 26-yard field goal 4 1/2 minutes into the third quarter to make it an 11-point game, and the Titans found the end zone later in the third as Fitzpatrick hit Brandon Barden on a 4-yard score. The 2-point conversion failed and it was a 17-12 game.

Herron, though, ripped off a 40-yard run into the end zone early in the fourth quarter to make it a 12-point game.

The Titans came right back and got a 46-yard score by Michael Preston from Fitzpatrick, but the team could get no closer and Nugent hit a 26-yard field goal late in the game to cap the scoring.
