Texans outlast Dolphins

Aug 18, 2013 - 3:47 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Case Keenum, Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates each threw a touchdown apiece as the Houston Texans defeated the Miami Dolphins, 24-17, on Saturday.

Schaub started the game and went 8-for-11 for 92 yards with an interception, Keenum was 11-for-18 for 150 yards and Yates completed 7-of-9 passes for 84 yards for the Texans. Deji Karim ran a game-high nine times for 55 yards.

Ryan Tannehill completed 10-of-15 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown while Matt Moore was a dismal 3-for-11 for 15 yards for the Dolphins.

Late in the first quarter. Schaub completed a short pass to Owen Daniels for a 15-yard touchdown.

However, the Dolphins answered on the ensuing possession. Tannehill connected with Mike Wallace on a nine-yard score with 43 seconds left in the period.

Houston scored on its first drive of the second when Keenum found Lestar Jean on a 38-yard touchdown pass. The Dolphins responded on the following drive as Lamar Miller bullied his way from four yards out to tie the game at 14-14.

As the first half came to a close, Randy Bullock drilled a 46-yard field goal to give the Texans a 17-14 edge.

They opened the gap even further in the third when Garrett Graham caught a 33- yard touchdown pass from Yates.

Caleb Sturgis booted a 43-yard field goal on their final drive of the quarter, but that would be it for the Dolphins. They were held scoreless in the fourth and limited to just 25 yards.
