Favre excels, Driver injured as Packers fall to Jaguars

Aug 24, 2007 - 4:12 AM GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Brett Favre certainly looks ready for his 17th season, but he may have lost his favorite target.

The veteran quarterback completed 14-of-20 passes for 130 yards, but wide receiver Donald Driver left Thursday's game with a right foot injury as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Green Bay Packers, 21-13, at Lambeau Field.

Driver, who has amassed three consecutive 1,200-yard seasons, was injured in the second quarter. After making one of his three catches across the middle, he eluded a tackle before being wrestled down near the sideline. Driver then gingerly walked off the field and later was carted to the locker room for X-rays.

"It's classified as a foot sprain," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's in good spirits. ... It's part of the game. It's unfortunate (but) hopefully it's not serious."

Jacksonville backup quarterback David Garrard outplayed starter Byron Leftwich.

Garrard was 6-of-7 for 97 yards and a touchdown for the Jaguars (2-1). Garrard found tight end George Wrighster for a 25-yard score to cap a seven-play, 49-yard drive in the third quarter.

Leftwich completed 6-of-16 passes for 67 yards.

Running back Brandon Jackson capped a nine-play, 73-yard scoring drive with his second one-yard scoring run of the preseason for the Packers (2-1). The former Nebraska star, who was the Packers' second-round pick - 63rd overall - this year, rushed 11 times for 20 yards.
