Bears capture first win over Browns

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bears rallied from a 10-point deficit Thursday to win their first preseason game, 16-10, and keep the Cleveland Browns winless this preseason.

Chicago quarterback Rex Grossman directed a 13-play, 95-yard touchdown drive midway through the second quarter to get the Bears on the board. Grossman, who completed 5-of-7 passes for 59 yards, tossed a 19-yard scoring strike to Brandon Rideau with 3:04 left in the first half.

Robbie Gould kicked a 48-yard field goal on the final play of the half to tie the score at 10-10.

Two more field goals by Gould - a 29-yarder at 7:57 of the third quarter and 46-yarder with 30 seconds left - were the only scores of the second half.

Grossman had come on for starter Kyle Orton, who completed 4-of-7 passes for 51 yards and played one series into the second quarter. Orton, who did not look particularly sharp, also was intercepted by Brandon McDonald.

Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn made his second start for the injured Derek Anderson (concussion). Quinn looked much better than in his last outing at Detroit, completing 7-of-9 passes for 65 yards.

Anderson was among 14 Browns players sidelined. The list included kick returner Joshua Cribbs, wide receiver Braylon Edwards and running back Jamal Lewis.

Tommie Harris, Mike Brown, Terrence Metcalf and Desmond Clark were among eight Chicago players who did not play.
