Texans try to finish season with consecutive wins
Dec 31, 2006 - 2:21 PM Cleveland (4-11) at Houston (5-10) Sunday 1:00 pm ESTHOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans have yet to enjoy a winning streak in 2006.
On Sunday, the Texans look to put together consecutive wins for the first time this season when they host the Cleveland Browns.
In Gary Kubiak's first season as coach, the Texans have shown some progress from a year ago when they went a league-worst 2-14.
Kubiak's biggest win came in last week's 27-24 triumph over AFC South champion Indianapolis.
Ron Dayne continued his surprising season at the expense of the Colts, rushing for a season-high 153 yards and two touchdowns. The 1999 Heisman Trophy winner has rushed for 439 yards and five touchdowns in his last four games.
The Browns are closing another disappointing season under Romeo Crennel, who is just 10-21 in two years as coach.
Crennel's biggest problem has been an offense which ranks 31st overall, averaging just 261.8 yards per contest.
Last week, Derek Anderson threw four interceptions before being pulled in favor of Ken Dorsey in a 22-7 loss to Tampa Bay.
Dorsey will make his first start of the season for the Browns, who have been held to seven points or fewer in four of 15 games this season.
This marks the second meeting in as many seasons between the teams here.
Kris Brown kicked four field goals, including a go-ahead 40-yarder with 2:45 left, to lift the Texans to a 19-16 victory on October 30, 2005.
