Grossman, Redskins beat Steelers

Aug 13, 2011 - 3:01 AM Landover, MD (Sports Network) - Rex Grossman starred in a starting role as Washington topped Pittsburgh, 16-7, in the preseason opener for both clubs.

Grossman, who was thrust into the spotlight under center after the 'Skins dealt Donovan McNabb to Minnesota last month, finished 19-of-26 for 207 yards and a second-quarter TD strike to Santana Moss.

Moss ended with 64 yards on seven catches and Graham Gano accounted for the remainder of Washington's scoring with three field goals.

Byron Leftwich went 6-of-10 for 70 yards for the defending AFC champions, while Ben Roethlisberger was 2-of-3 for 22 yards during his lone series.

Isaac Redman totaled 42 yards and Pittsburgh's lone score on five carries, while Antonio Brown clocked in with 64 yards on four grabs in defeat.
