Vikings blank Texans in preseason finale
Sep 2, 2011 - 3:31 AM Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Caleb King ran for 62 yards and two scores in the Minnesota Vikings' 28-0 preseason-concluding victory over the Houston Texans.Following a scoreless first quarter, 12th overall pick Christian Ponder opened the onslaught with a five-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph. Ponder completed 10-of-16 passes for 83 yards, while de facto starter Joe Webb went 5-of-6 for 43 yards.
Alexander Robinson also had a rushing touchdown for the Vikings, who open the regular season September 11 at San Diego.
Matt Leinart took the majority of the snaps for the Texans, completing 13- of-16 passed for 145 yards. T.J. Yates threw for 77 yards and an interception on 6-of-13 passing.
Garrett Graham had six receptions for 71 yards and Chris Ogbonnaya ran for 62 yards on 14 carries for the Texans, who had won their previous three preseason contests.
They open the regular season on September 11 at home against the potentially Peyton Manning-less Colts.
