Chiefs, Jaguars seeking third straight win
Oct 7, 2007 - 10:27 AM Jacksonville (2-1) at Kansas City (2-2) Sunday 1:00 pm EDTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - The Kansas City Chiefs are taking a similar path as last season.
Aiming for their third straight win, the Chiefs host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
For the second consecutive season, the Chiefs opened 0-2 only to win their next two contests. Last season, the Chiefs made the playoffs with an 8-8 record, capping the regular season here with a wild 35-30 victory over Jacksonville.
Last Sunday, the Chiefs posted a surprising 30-16 road win over the San Diego Chargers. Damon Huard threw the go-ahead 51-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Dwayne Bowe early in the fourth quarter.
A first-round pick, Bowe has given the Chiefs another option in the passing game along with perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez. He had eight catches for 164 yards to go along with his long score against the Chargers.
Larry Johnson also got the running game in gear against the Chargers as he gained a season-high 123 yards on 25 carries. His numbers were padded with a late 37-yard run.
After opening the season with a disappointing home loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars have won their last two contests. Jacksonville enjoyed its bye last weekend.
Two weeks ago, the Jaguars posted an impressive 23-14 road win over the Denver Broncos. David Garrard went an efficient 14-of-20 for 154 yards and a touchdown.
Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has gotten off to a slow start, rushing for just 100 yards on 33 carries.
