Stumbling Ravens visit Seahawks
Dec 23, 2007 - 11:23 AM Baltimore (4-10) at Seattle (9-5) 4:15 pm ESTSEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle Seahawks hope they got their clunker out of the way before the playoffs.
The Seahawks play their final regular-season home game, hosting the reeling Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Seattle had its five-game winning streak snapped with a surprising 13-10 loss at the Carolina Panthers last weekend.
Having averaged 29.6 points during their five-game roll, the Seahawks were limited to just a field goal until Matt Hasselbeck threw a meaningless 15-yard touchdown pass to Deion Branch with one second to play.
Granted, the Seahawks had already clinched their fourth consecutive NFC West title the previous week - and their lack of intensity showed.
"There's not a lot to say about this game," Seattle coach Mike Holmgren said. "We didn't play very inspired football."
Hasselbeck finished 27-of-41 for 274 yards for the Seahawks, who are tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the No. 3 seed in the NFC, although they own the tiebreaker.
While Hasselbeck had put up impressive numbers during the winning streak, the Seahawks' ground game continued to sputter.
Shaun Alexander managed just 17 yards on seven carries and backup Maurice Morris had 15 yards on four rushes.
The Ravens' dreadful season hit rock bottom in a 22-16 overtime loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins last weekend.
Coach Brian Billick, facing a 4th-and-goal at the 1-yard line with eight seconds to play in regulation, opting for a tying field goal instead of going for the win.
Normally reliable kicker Matt Stover then missed a 44-yard field goal which would have given the Ravens the win, and Miami capitalized to send the Ravens to their eighth consecutive loss.
One of the few bright spots for Baltimore was running back Willis McGahee, who rushed for 104 yards on 29 carries - his fifth 100-yard game this season.
Ravens quarterback Kyle Boller was knocked out of the game with a concussion but is expected to start against Seattle.
