Jaguars WR Lee suffers lower-leg injury

Aug 13, 2017 - 7:00 PM Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee was carted off the practice field Sunday after suffering what appeared to be a serious injury to his right leg.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said after practice he wasn't sure of the extent of Lee's injury. Lee's lower right leg was placed in an air cast.

"I know they were touching around in the lower part of him, but you're really not going to get anything until the doctor sees him," Marrone told reporters.

Lee was running a route in the middle of the field during 7-on-7 drills when he fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his right leg, according to ESPN. Linebacker Telvin Smith, who was covering Lee, immediately called for trainers.

Lee, who was drafted in the second round by the Jaguars in 2014, suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of his rookie season and missed three games before finishing with 37 catches for 422 yards and one touchdown. In 2015, after missing six of the first eight games because of a hamstring injury, Lee played in the final eight games but he caught just 15 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown for the season.

The 25-year-old Lee was healthy for the entire 2016 season, catching 63 passes for 851 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 30.3 yards on 18 kickoff returns, including one he took back 100 yards for a touchdown against the Houston Texans.

Marrone also said rookie running back Leonard Fournette missed practice with a foot injury. The injury does not appear to be serious, but Fournette complained of soreness.

"We're going to be real cautious with that," Marrone said. "If it puts anything in jeopardy for a longer deal, because we'll get him back, then I probably would hold him."

The 22-year-old Fournette, the fourth overall pick out of LSU, ran for 31 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in the Jaguars' 31-24 preseason victory over New England on Thursday night.
