Indefinite suspension over for Giants CB Rodgers-Cromartie
Oct 17, 2017 - 5:15 PM New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's indefinite suspension for violating team rules is over, the club announced Tuesday.Rodgers-Cromartie was indefinitely suspended on Thursday following an incident with coach Ben McAdoo. The Pro Bowl selection subsequently sat out Sunday night's 23-10 win over the Denver Broncos, costing him $410,588.
Rodgers-Cromartie met with McAdoo on Tuesday morning and was reinstated to the active roster from the reserve/suspended by club list. He is expected to return to the team's facility in East Rutherford, N.J. on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Rodgers-Cromartie initially was suspended last Wednesday after he left the facility before practice. His displeasure stemmed from learning the previous day that he would be inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos, according to multiple reports.
Rodgers-Cromartie threw his helmet in disgust when he was taken off the field late in a 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 8. Rodgers-Cromartie felt he was being a "good soldier" by taking the slot cornerback role, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, and the disagreement apparently dragged into last Tuesday's conversation with McAdoo.
Rodgers-Cromartie has one more season left on the five-year contract he signed before the 2014 season. He has 26 tackles and a half-sack this season.
The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Rodgers-Cromartie is in his 10th NFL season since being drafted No. 16 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. Before coming to the Giants, he also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Broncos.
The Giants waived/injured cornerback Michael Hunter on Tuesday to make room on the roster for Rodgers-Cromartie. Hunter, 24, sustained a hamstring injury against the Broncos.
No one has shouted yet.
