Broncos promote WR Sharp from practice squad

Oct 18, 2017 - 4:06 PM The Denver Broncos promoted wide receiver Hunter Sharp from their practice squad on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-11, 198-pound Sharp is a first-year player who has competed on the Broncos' practice squad since Week 17 of the 2016 season. He entered the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles as a college free agent out of Utah State in 2016.

Sharp, 23, was among the final cuts the Broncos made in September. He appeared in all four of Denver's preseason games in 2017 and finished second on the team with 92 receiving yards on six catches with one touchdown. He also contributed one special teams tackle and returned a punt for 17 yards.

Sharp's arrival fills one of the two roster spots the Broncos opened on Tuesday by releasing defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin and placing offensive lineman Billy Turner on injured reserve after he underwent hand surgery.

The Broncos also signed wide receiver River Cracraft to the practice squad.

The 6-0, 198-pound Cracraft is a rookie from Washington State University who finished his career with the Cougars ranked second on the school's all-time receptions list (218) and sixth in both receiving yards (2,701) and receiving touchdowns (20). He missed the final three games of his senior season with a knee injury.
