NFL roundup: Titans survive scare from winless Browns

Oct 23, 2017 - 3:50 PM CLEVELAND -- Ryan Succop kicked a 47-yard field goal with 1:55 left in overtime to give the Tennessee Titans a 12-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

A 54-yard field goal by Browns rookie kicker Zane Gonzalez with 47 seconds left in regulation tied the score 9-9 to force overtime.

The 0-7 Browns shut down the Titans' sixth-ranked running attack and the Tennessee defense made the Browns quarterbacks pay for passing mistakes.

Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota finished 21 of 34 for 203 yards. DeMarco Murray had 18 carries for just 59 yards.

Browns quarterback Cody Kessler went 10 of 19 for 121 yards and an interception before being benched for rookie DeShone Kizer, who went 12 of 20 for 114 yards and two interceptions.



Patriots 23, Falcons 7

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Just as they occurred in the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, New England manhandled Atlanta, cruising to a fog-shrouded victory.

The Falcons held a 28-3 lead over New England back in February before the Patriots scored the last 31 points to steal the game. On Sunday night, New England made it 54 straight points against Atlanta before Julio Jones caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan with 4:09 left in the game.

Tom Brady threw two touchdowns passes, one a short flip forward that Brandin Cooks ran in 11 yards for a TD, and Stephen Gostkowski kicked three field goals for New England. James White, who scored the overtime touchdown in the Super Bowl, caught a 2-yard touchdown pass.



Vikings 24, Ravens 16

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kai Forbath kicked six field goals for Minnesota in a win over Baltimore.

Justin Tucker kicked three field goals, but it wasn't enough as the Ravens lost their fourth in five games.

Vikings running back Latavius Murray was the rare offensive standout, picking up 113 yards on the ground and scoring Minnesota's lone touchdown. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco finished 27 of 39 passing for 186 yards, and hit Chris Moore for a 13-yard touchdown on the final play of the game. Vikings quarterback Case Keenum was 20 of 31 for 188 yards and an interception.



Bears 17, Panthers 3

CHICAGO -- Rookie safety Eddie Jackson became the first player in NFL history to score two defensive touchdowns of at least 75 yards in the same game, and Chicago made them stand up in a win over Carolina.

Jackson scored on a 75-yard fumble return and a 76-yard interception return during the first half. Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky played it safe on the other side of the ball as he completed four of seven passes for 107 yards.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (21 of 34, 211 yards) was intercepted twice in the loss. Turnovers crippled Carolina, which fell short despite posting a 20-5 advantage in first downs and a 293-153 edge in total yards.



Saints 26, Packers 17

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Drew Brees continued his mastery of Green Bay, leading New Orleans to victory.

Brees completed a barrage of short passes that added up to 331 yards on 27-of-38 accuracy with two interceptions. In seven career games against the Packers, he has topped 300 passing yards all seven times.

Making his first start for injured Aaron Rodgers, Packers quarterback Brett Hundley was just 12 of 25 for 87 yards. Hundley didn't make any big mistakes -- his lone interception came with the Packers down by nine in the final minutes -- but he also didn't make any big plays in the passing game.



Jaguars 27, Colts 0

INDIANAPOLIS -- Blake Bortles completed 18 of 26 passes for 330 yards and a touchdown, and Jacksonville dominated Indianapolis.

The Colts were shut out for the first time since a 41-0 playoff loss in 2002 at the New York Jets.

Bortles had a terrific first half, completing 14 of 20 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown. His first-half success included completions of 45, 50, 52, 24 and 28 yards. Jacksonville's 39 first-half plays from scrimmage produced 342 yards. Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett was sacked three times in the first half and limited to 5-of-10 passing for 37 yards. Brissett finished 22 of 37 for 200 yards.



Dolphins 31, Jets 28

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Backup quarterback Matt Moore, facing a two-touchdown deficit, rallied Miami over New York.

Dolphins defensive back Bobby McCain made the biggest defensive play of the game, intercepting a Josh McCown pass at the New York 27 with 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter. That set up Dolphins kicker Cody Parkey, who broke a 28-28 tie with a 37-yard field goal with 26 seconds left.

Moore completed 13 of 21 passes for 198 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in relief of Jay Cutler (ribs). The late interception of McCown spoiled a strong overall performance in which he passed for three touchdowns and ran for one. He finished 17 of 27 for 209 yards.



Bills 30, Buccaneers 27

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- LeSean McCoy rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns and Tyrod Taylor passed for 268 yards and a touchdown as Buffalo came from behind to defeat Tampa Bay.

Stephen Hauschka made three field goals, including the game-winner from 30 yards with 14 seconds remaining. Earlier in the game, Hauschka tied an NFL record by making his 12th consecutive field goal of at least 50 yards.

Jameis Winston started at quarterback for the Buccaneers after being listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Winston was 32 of 44 passing for 384 yards and three touchdowns. However, he fumbled twice, losing one, and threw an interception. Bucs rookie tight end O.J. Howard caught six passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while Mike Evans had seven receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown.



Rams 33, Cardinals 0

Jared Goff threw for 235 yards and a touchdown, Todd Gurley II had his fourth game of 100 or more rushing yards and the defense provided two interceptions that led to points as Los Angeles crushed Arizona at Twickenham Stadium in London.

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer exited the game in the second quarter with a broken left arm and will be out at least eight weeks and possibly the rest of the season.

Greg Zuerlein added four field goals for the Rams. Gurley rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. It was Gurley's fourth 100 yards-plus game this season. He had no games of 100 or more yards last season.



Steelers 29, Bengals 14

PITTSBURGH -- Le'Veon Bell carried 35 times for 134 yards against the NFL's second-ranked defense to lead Pittsburgh over Cincinnati.

In games in which Bell has carried 27 times or more, the Steelers are 4-0.

Bell sparked a Steelers touchdown drive on their first possession. He carried five times for 27 yards and gained 23 on a pass reception before Antonio Brown caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger completed 14 of 24 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns for the Steelers. His passer rating of 117.4 was a season high.



Cowboys 40, 49ers 10

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Ezekiel Elliott ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 72-yard touchdown pass, leading Dallas over San Francisco.

Dak Prescott completed 16 of 25 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns for the Cowboys, who ended a two-game losing streak. Prescott also ran for a touchdown.

San Francisco rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard completed 22 of 38 passes for 235 yards and ran for a touchdown in his first NFL start. He was sacked five times and lost two fumbles.



Chargers 21, Broncos 0

CARSON, Calif -- Los Angeles blanked Denver to win its third straight game and first of the season after three losses at the StubHub Center.

Travis Benjamin had a 42-yard scoring reception and returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown to lead the Chargers. Philip Rivers added another touchdown pass to running back Austin Ekeler. Rivers finished 15 of 26 for 183 yards and two touchdowns as he recorded his 100th career win.

The Broncos, who have dropped three of their past four games, committed three turnovers and were stifled by a stout Chargers defense. Trevor Siemian completed 25 of 35 passes for 207 yards and an interception.



Seahawks 24, Giants 7

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Russell Wilson threw three second-half touchdown passes to give Seattle a win over New York.

The Seahawks, who were coming off their bye week, put together a sloppy, penalty-filled first half, which included eight penalties for 63 yards and two second-quarter dropped passes by tight end Jimmy Graham, one of which would have been a touchdown on a fourth-down play.

Wilson, who in addition to the three touchdown passes, completed 27 of 39 for 334 yards and no interceptions. Seattle's Doug Baldwin caught nine passes for 91 yards and a score. Giants quarterback Eli Manning was just 19 of 39 for 134 yards and a touchdown.
