Patriots' Brady wins another Player of Week award
Nov 16, 2017 - 5:41 PM New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his three-touchdown performance in the 41-16 victory over the Denver Broncos.It is the 40-year-old Brady's NFL-record 30th Player of the Week honor, including his third of the 2017 season after earning back-to-back awards in Weeks 2 and 3. Brady completed 25 of 34 passes for 266 yards with no interceptions in Sunday night's game as he recorded his 86th career regular-season win on the road, passing Peyton Manning (85) for the most in NFL history.
The NFL also announced Wednesday that Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton earned the NFC offensive honor for Week 10. He won the award for the ninth time in his career after improving to 5-1 on "Monday Night Football" in the 45-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Newton was 21 of 35 for 254 yards and four touchdowns, and added five carries for 95 yards, including a 69-yard run.
Atlanta Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his record-setting six-sack performance in the 27-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He sacked Dak Prescott six times, the most in a single game in Falcons history.
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye took home the AFC defensive award after his overtime interception was the key play in the 20-17 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. He intercepted Philip Rivers on the Chargers' first possession of overtime and returned it 51 yards to the San Diego 2, setting up the game-winning field goal.
The AFC Special Teams Player of the Week went to Patriots kick returner/running back Dion Lewis, who scored on a 103-yard kickoff return in the first quarter against the Broncos. He also added an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and led the Patriots with 55 rushing yards.
Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein took the NFC special teams honor after he connected on four field goals -- from 27, 33, 50, 33 yards out -- and three extra points in the 33-7 victory against the Houston Texans. He now leads the league with 114 points this season -- 28 field goals and 30 extra points.
