Cardinals add TE Holmes to active roster, drop RB Hill
Dec 16, 2017 - 7:55 PM The Arizona Cardinals promoted tight end Gabe Holmes to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday and released running back Bronson Hill.The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Holmes signed with the Cardinals' practice squad on Nov. 30 after previously spending time this season on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens. He entered the league in 2015 with Oakland as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Purdue and split his rookie season between the Raiders' active roster and practice squad.
In 2016, Holmes was on the Raiders' injured reserve list and he spent this preseason with Oakland before being released on Sept. 2.
Hill was promoted to the Cardinals' active roster from the practice squad on Nov. 29 but did not play in either of the past two games. He played in three games with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season and had two carries for 11 yards.
