NFL Best Bet for Vikings at Packers: Sunday Night Football (Week 17)
Jan 2, 2022 - 6:37 PMIf you’re like me, you fall victim to the Sunday scaries every week. The crushing reality of work yet-to-be-done starts to sink in sometime in the afternoon, and it’ll ruin the rest of the day if you let it. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to — just change the channel to ESPN! It’s much easier to forget about tomorrow when Sunday Night Football is occupying your attention.
PointsBet understands the struggle. That’s why they’re offering a $10 risk-free live bet for Sunday night’s action. You can take advantage of the promotion on any market with a minimum of -200 odds. Unlike whatever work you’ve put off all weekend, you won’t have to worry about negative consequences with this offer — but you do have to procrastinate until kickoff to place your wager!

Dalvin Cook o15.5 Receiving Yards | -105 at PointsBet
Here’s a number that doesn’t make sense. Cook averages 20.1 receiving yards per game, and the Vikings just lost their second-best receiver in Adam Thielen. That points to an uptick in targets for the veteran rusher. While it’s true that Minnesota will have to start Sean Mannion at quarterback this week, I suspect the change under center makes dump-off passes to Cook more likely, not less.
A trio of other factors point to value on this prop as well. First, Green Bay has fared better against opposing rushers on the ground than through the air. They permit the 10th-fewest rushing yards per game to the position but allow the 14th-fewest receiving yards on the 13th-most receptions. Cook exploited Green Bay’s slight weakness for 29 receiving yards back in Week 11.
We’re also targeting this because of the probable game script. With Mannion under center, Minnesota is a 13-point underdog, so they’ll likely have to pass a lot to keep up. I suspect the seventh-year journeyman with just 384 passing yards to his name will pepper safe options like Cook with targets.
Lastly, the weather looks awful for this one. With the forecasted temperate at kickoff just 7°, the Vikings will probably opt for a more conservative offense that focuses on consistent short gains over long-distance targets.
