After dismal loss, Redskins host high-flying Browns
Oct 14, 2008 - 9:41 PM Cleveland (2-3) at Washington (4-2), 4:15 pm EDTLANDOVER, Maryland (Ticker) -- The Washington Redskins, reeling from a loss to a winless team, need to rebound against an opponent that handed the defending Super Bowl champions their first loss of the season.
The Redskins look to bounce back against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday when the teams meet at FedEx Field.
After dropping its season opener to the New York Giants, Washington put together a four-game winning streak, which included victories against the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
However, that surge came to a screeching halt on Sunday when Josh Brown's 49-yard field goal as time expired lifted the dismal St. Louis Rams to their first victory, 19-17, against the Redskins.
"I thought the Rams came out and played extremely hard and they had a good game plan," Washington quarterback Jason Campbell said. "We were able to move the ball, but the only thing that kept us from scoring was turnovers, miscues and lack of communication."
The Redskins will need an improved effort against the Browns, who earned their second straight win on Monday night by forging a 35-14 win against the previously undefeated Giants.
After Cleveland stumbled out of the gate with one win in four games, Derek Anderson began hearing calls for Brady Quinn to take his quarterback job. The 25-year-old signal caller put any doubts to rest on Monday, completing 18-of-29 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
"I could feel it. I could see it in guys' eyes," Anderson said. "During warmups, guys were focused and the intensity was there. In the locker room before the game, you could feel it."
